Several weeks ago, I got out my Christmas decorations and dusted them off, complaining about their tackiness and sulking that I'd like to purchase "newer" and "better" decorations but that they were not in the budget this year. So to my surprise, I came home a few days later to see that my boyfriend decided to cheer me up by turning our picture wall, into a wall of wrapped presents. Think - HGTV, Martha Stewart kinda thing... it looked beautiful! I have to admit, I found it strange that he decided to do this in his spare time - not really a masculine hobby to be gift wrapping frames to enhance Christmas decor, but nonetheless thought that it was just one of the many wonderful things that he does to make me happy!
Fast forward to Boxing Day, when we had our own Christmas at home with just the two of us, and the dog of course! We had exchanged presents and I got some nice things from him... but it wasn't over! Stephen tells me that there were still a few other small presents for me - which were all the wrapped presents on the wall that he had done weeks ago. I was a bit confused, but he continues to explain that I now have to open all of the presents (aka: photo frames) because my gifts were behind the paper. I reluctantly open the presents/frames, not wanting to spoil the Christmas decor, but behind each frame is a new photo of special moments in our lives over the past year. He explains that he knew I wanted new photos on the wall and that he replaced them to remind us of all of the amazing times we have had together. Finally, I unwrap the last frame - not expecting it to be a new one because it is our favorite photo which we had taken in Dominican last year - it is also by far the largest frame. (This is the photo I attached) Inside the frame is a designed poster reading: "Amanda, will you make me the luckiest man in the entire world and MARRY ME?" So here I am - standing on the sofa with a giant framed poster in my hand COMPLETELY in shock - and Stephen is on the floor, down on one knee, ready to propose. AMAZING!
