Recently Engaged: Jennifer & Hans

A romantic scene with a little help from The Wedding Singer.

We met in university and had been dating for three years at the time of the proposal. It was always my belief that Hans would propose after he finished his education therefore when he did pop the question it came as a complete surprise to me because he still had two years left of his degree.

Hans informed me that he was traveling to Maine with his brother but in reality was driving to New Brunswick to ask my parents’ permission to marry me. The day Hans returned home from his “trip” he had arranged for his parents to pick me up from work. On the drive home, they told me that he had a big surprise for me because he felt bad for being away for so long. When I arrived home, I found a rose and a note taped to the door. The note from Hans stated that he had set up a little surprise for me and to follow the directions. When I entered the apartment I discovered rose petals and candles that led to the dining room table. On the table there was another note attached to an Ipod that instructed me to press play. Hans had recorded himself singing the song "I Wanna Grow Old with You" from the movie The Wedding Singer (this was from the first movie that we watched together). After the song finished there was another note that directed me to go to the spare bedroom. Hans was down on one knee with the ring in one hand and a flower in the other, I of course said yes!

We are getting married in the fall of 2011.
