YoRodeo, edited by Jenner Berger (Invisible Publishing)

A strong contender for a locally produced holiday gift, Rememberer is not your typical dayplanner. In fact, despite the random empty calendar pages that appear throughout, this book is more of a place to keep memories than things to do. YoRodeo’s amusing activity pages (empty comics to fill in, movies to see, mazes to navigate) anchor micro-fiction by 10 writers, many of whom have presented at editor Jenner Berger’s Allan Street Reading Series. Loosely interpreting themes of memory and remembering, the stories are tiny in word count and in scope, which makes them ideal coffee shop reads. However, Ben Stephenson’s “Plantain Supernova,” about a grocery trip with a painful ending, will stick in your memory long after reading.
