Film Screening, Meeting

Reproductive Rights on the High Seas Halifax Premier of Vessel, the film

When: Tue., Nov. 18, 7 p.m. 2014

This event will take place in Law Rm 105 and is co-sponsored by Halifax LEAF (Women's Legal Education and Action Fund), Cinema Politica/NSPIRG, and the Dalhousie Feminist Legal Association (DFLA). There will be a showing of the documentary, Vessel. This film touches on advocacy group Women on Waves and the issue of medical abortion access- something which those with an interest in reproductive justice are interested in making more widely available in Atlantic Canada. Medical abortions use drugs, not surgery to end a pregnancy. The purpose of this project is to begin considering how medical abortion might be implemented as another option available to patients in Atlantic Canada. There will be a panel with academic experts in local law and reproductive justice, Professors Aldo Chircop and Joanna Erdman, and Atlantic Canadian activists to follow afterwards.
