We Three Kings
(Yep Roc)
The Reverend Horton Heat, also known as Jim Heath, has been blazing a punkabilly, guitar-driven, pomade-slicked-back trail for more than 20 years. Booze-fuelled and hard living are usually the associations made with the life and music of The Rev. With the release of this Christmas album the question comes down to: Is it all about the eggnog, or is this the inevitable late-career corporate mistletoe kiss-up? In the end, it is just a whole lotta shake-your- booty-on-the-dance-floor fun, and if it takes a little eggnog to loosen you up, so be it. This is classic Christmas tunage (the titular track, “Frosty,” “Rudolph,” “Jingle Bells”) forged in the depths of hell. Music you can roast your chestnuts — and other parts — with.
