Rhythm Heaven Fever

Available on Nintendo Wii (Nintendo)

Apparently I have no rhythm, a prerequisite to playing this game. Rhythm Heaven Fever is a collection of mini-games that requires you to keep the beat with interesting scenarios happening on screen, similar to its DS predecessor. The controls are simple, you just have to worry about the A and B buttons on the Wii remote, but that’s where the simplicity ends. This game is hard. Really freaking hard. The first few levels take a little getting used to---eventually you get into the swing of it, but after that it’s a gauntlet of frustration trying to keep pace with the music and animations on screen. The characters and settings are creatively minimalistic and funky, and the music is catchy, but the game is just too hard to play if you don’t have the necessary mojo. I can’t really recommend this game unless you have a good sense of rhythm and a lot of patience.
