Re: “The NDP Are An Angry Bunch

Where and when did the NDP say they want to cut funding to Laing house? The NDP were the first government to launch a mental health strategy in this province.

Re: “Generation Y entitlement

Hey Pretty Kitty, I did my own job search as well as applying to the ones through the co-op office. I was lucky this round out of the eight jobs I applied to I got six interviews and two offers! I'm older (26) than the majority of the 75 students in my program and I worked for 5.5 years in the political world and retail before I enrolled in the Mount which I think gave me a huge advantage over other students who are coming straight out of high school or another degree. All the volunteer positions I've been involved with I found on my own or through friends. Volunteering is great it shows employers you can multitask but it is hard when your a full student in a demanding program. Also the whole co-op search and having to go to pd sessions is basically a 6th course!

Re: “Generation Y entitlement

Yep Pretty Kitty, I'm a 2nd year pr student and just got hired for my first co-op term. Our co-op jobs range $12/hr to $37/hr depending on the location and who your working for. I volunteer year round when I'm in school to gain more skills for my field.

Re: “Generation Y entitlement

I'm a co-op student at MSVU one of requirements for a co-op job is that it has to be paid. Also we have to pay $1000 (full credit fee) to the Mount for each of our 3 co-op terms. You want a student who will work their butts off for you then you have to pay them! Also the provincial government will subsidize half of hourly wage, this will encourage more employers to hire co-op students.

Re: “Dalhousie "abortion debate" is a farce

Sarah8, don't you think women should have the right to decide if they want to be pregnant or not? Thats why they invented birth control. So women could have sex (which is a natural urge and thing) and not worry about getting pregnant! Women should be allowed to have sex for pleasure. not just to reproduce!

I love that the head of Dal's pro- life group is a guy because you know that he will never be in a situation where he might need to get an abortion! And I've heard the whole defense "well the father of the fetus should have rights" I'm sorry but its the women who's carrying the child and in the end its ultimately her decision what she wants to do with her body!

I wonder how many of those pro lifers are going to go out and adopt a kid! And I don;t mean pay $40,000 and fly over to Africa and pick one up. I mean adopt a kid from north end Halifax! Probably not that many!!

My problem with the pro- life movement is that they seem to only care about the fetus in the womb and after their born their on their own!! Instead of holding a "fake" debate why don't you guys have a fundraiser for the home in Dartmouth that helps support low income teen moms who are trying to raise these babies that you guys so desperately want to live!!!

Re: “Canada Games = No School for YOU!

Many of the local schools are being used as venues for the games, thats why schools are closed. Also shouldn't you be happy that the province is not spending millions of dollars on building additional new sports facilities to accommodate the games. We are using the facilities we already have to save money!!
