Run away with the Circus Cabaret

Halifax Circus wows with tightropes, aerials and unicycles, oh my!

Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, Halifax Circus is

transforming the James Dunn Theatre into Halifax's very own big top this weekend. This gathering of brilliant and daring performers isn't just a celebration of local talent but also of a new collaboration with Cirque du Monde (a social outreach partner of Cirque de Soleil). Performers will include instructors and senior students, as well as youth from Halifax Circus' social program Circus Circle, showcasing awe-inspiring acts from acrobatics to tightrope walking to trapeze and aerial silks, plus many more acts that'll be sure to drop your jaw to the floor, says Mike Hirschbach, Halifax Circus' director. The best thing is, you don't have to leave town to see it all unfold. "We like to think its the best circus work being performed in the Atlantic provinces, some of these acts are going to knock your eyes out. One of the great things about it is, with one exception, every single person in the show is from Nova Scotia." –Allison Saunders

Thu May 19- Sun May 22, Sir James Dunn Theatre, Dalhousie Arts Centre, 6101 University Avenue, 7:30pm (and 2:30pm on Sat and Sun), $20/$16
