Sandjam Halifax

When: Aug. 12-18 2013

Back for the third year running, is one of the coolest events to ever take place in downtown Halifax (there, I said it): Sandjam Halifax. What's not to love about the boatload of sand that gets dumped on the corner of Salter and Lower Water streets, the 2,000-seat stadium that gets filled with sun-kissed sports fans and some the best beach volleyball players in the world battling it out. This year, Sports Entertainment Atlantic serves up the first ever Canada Cup, a battle between male and female pairs from Canada, the US, Germany and England. But before the 350 tonnes of sand arrives, the Legends Cup is going—an exhibition tennis match featuring the legendary Jim Courier and an equally awesome TBA opponent—is going down. Can you dig it? —Allison Saunders
