Immigrant Entrepreneurs to show their stuff on Fridays at the Market

On Friday November 5, a new International Friday Market will open at the Seaport Market (1209 Marginal Road, 429-6256), and will continue henceforth every Friday from 10am to 7pm, with the official opening November 19. The international market will feature vendors from nations as varied Turkey, Peru, India, Lebanon, China, Iran and Greece, more than 40 vendors offering prepared food and non-food items as well. “We were researching what foods various immigrant groups were looking for but could not find,” explains organizer Gordon Michael. “This information was passed on to producers so they could grow or produce the products. We also found out many wanted to start a business by making and selling prepared food and related products.” Look out for numbers to increase as local restaurants with an international flavour get in on the action. The International Market is partnered with Business Development Services and Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services.
