Sorry, Wrong Chimney!

Bedford Players’ productions tend to be light and humorous, and Sorry! Wrong Chimney! is no exception. It’s another one of those ultimately forgettable but fun-at-the-time bedroom farces involving wacky misunderstandings and multiple cases of mistaken identity. A nervous newlywed (Stacey Fownes) suspects her husband (Curtis Skinner) of cheating on her when in fact he’s moonlighting as Santa Claus to earn more Christmas money. Their nosey neigbour (Michele Gaudet) and her psychiatrist husband (Michael Taylor) are drawn into the misunderstanding, and a deranged Santa (Robin Saywood) and his gun-moll wife (Karen Shewbridge) are thrown into the mix for good measure. There are lots laughs, with the most memorable involving a hypnotized policeman (Darrel O’Neil) who performs a to-the-skivvies striptease. Although the plot is not exactly Shakespeare, these actors have good comic chemistry and ultimately deliver a fun and light-hearted Christmas show. –Kate Watson
