Stephen Fearing

Between Hurricanes (Lowden Proud)

Following a good stretch in Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Fearing is back to doing what made his name. His first solo album in seven years should reclaim his status in the acoustic realm. The tune he was dying to get out there is “Cold Dawn,” concerning the tragic helicopter crash off Newfoundland in 2009. A reward for his recent move to Halifax is a trio of ballads co-written with Erin Costelo. When Fearing gets back to rocking, he’s armed with “Keep Your Mouth Shut.” A tour de force is “These Golden Days,” a spirited ramble through memories of love, delusions of fame, threads of regret and how the perspective of time puts them in their place.
