The Hub Project: A wonderful idea

The past fascinates and energizes residents, visitors and businesspeople with an atmosphere that is unique

by

It was with great hope that I read about The Hub project---30 or so young professionals and entrepreneurs of one sort or another, located in one of the historic buildings in Halifax's core (1673 Barrington Street). I think this was initiated by a young visionary, without the benefit of planners and large developers.

It would be wonderful if this example could lead to the startling understanding of the fact that heritage is a pleasure to be around, and can represent a big attraction for commerce. Let's hope the example of The Hub can illustrate to our revisionist planners that the past fascinates and energizes residents, visitors and businesspeople with an atmosphere that is unique in the world.

There is only one old Halifax and one old Canada, let's not be stupid enough to kill the golden goose by destroying our historical buildings.
