The IncrEDIBLE Community Supper

When: Sun., March 14, 3-5 p.m. 2010

The seemingly barren winter season is still a time to buy local food, and the Ecology Action Centre is hosting a community supper to celebrate just that. As part of a series of community dinners being held across the province by Select Nova Scotia, this IncrEDIBLE gathering will focus on sustainable seafood choices to eat during the cold months. "It's the idea of seasonality, just following the seasons around," says Sadie Beaton, who works on the Marine Issues committee with the EAC. She adds that chef Michael Howell from the Tempest Restaurant in Wolfville will talk about his experiences in trying to source local and sustainable seafood, but otherwise Sunday afternoon's feast is going to be an informal community gathering for the foodie in you. On the menu: lobster chowder, salad, dessert and fair trade coffee or tea, all from Local Source Market. Tickets available at the EAC (cash only) or by phone at 446-4840. Tickets will also be at the door, but space is limited so take your chances. All proceeds go to the EAC. –Holly Gordon
