It's a Bowie Bash and you're invited!
  • It's a Bowie Bash and you're invited!

Slap on your blond shag wigs, ruffled shirts and tight pants. And don't forget your crystal ball—CKDU is turning 28 (in terms of years on air, which is like dog years for radio stations) and there's going to be prizes for dressing the part. But, why Bowie? "Why not Bowie?" challenges station coordinator Gianna Lauren. "Bowie has a lot of different sides to him which translates well to what we do, CKDU is very diverse in its programming and membership. We have folks who are in their young teens who are broadcasting and folks who are coming up on 80...folks are here for a run of different motives. All the colours and all the shades of Bowie could plan a fun party." Combining the '80s legend with local supergroup tribute band Hungry Eyes is a stroke of dance party genius, add a little birthday cake, rare CKDU archival finds and all your friends dressed as Labyrinth muppets and you'll be headed back just in time. Hide yo' babies.
