Re: “Halifax‚Äôs XANADU

Groundbreaking stuff, definitely not beating a dead horse with this topic. Can't wait for his next series on how the Earth is flat.

Re: “Rank, Inc. appeals its tax bill

Not sure this is news. Lots of people appeal their property assessment.

Re: “Convention centre design review farce continues

A buried concrete parking garage doesn't change if different glass finishes or other aesthetics change above grade. The building is limited by view planes - the structure below ground will have to support something that will maximize usable space out of the view plane, so even if what is above ground changes, the foundations will be able to hold it up either way.

Re: “Most Chain of Lakes Trail users don't know about sewer project

Summary of the article: "only Tim Bousquet believes this is the next Watergate".

Re: “Million dollar boondoggle

Tender for the extension work at fairview cove went out June 12 and the tipping fee for the slate covers the cost for capping rock (both have these have been reported by actual news sources). Stop trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. You probably have a hard time getting people to give you information because you report it incorrectly and skew it for your own bias.

Re: “No permits have been issued for new convention centre

This article is pointless. Tim could have conveyed this in a 140 character tweet and still have enough characters left over to do his regular bash of anything Richard Butts says and take another jab at all attempts to move this city out of the stone age. I'm just happy Tim doesn't volunteer at the post office around Christmas time responding to letters to Santa because the next generation of Haligonians would be a group of cynical pricks.

Re: “This week at city council

To no ones surprise, once again Tim has penned an article loose on facts. Just like old time propaganda writers and modern day Fox News, Tim ignores important aspects of the story in an attempt to make it look like he has uncovered a great conspiracy. Tim has ignored previous corrections to his theory that the Halifax Regional Water Commision was formed in this decade. It was formed in the 40's to fix a water system on the brink of failure due to the cities neglect. In the 2000's after decades of continued neglect, largely due to a dysfunctional council run system, the waste water system was handed over under the understanding that big changes and upgrades were needed or we would face major system failures forcing us back to the pre-Victorian era of dumping our waste in the streets.

Also omitted in Tim's analysis was our deputy mayor's suggestion that we should just ignore federal regulations on the treatment of waste water. According to him the prudent thing to do would be to "stop upgrading". So, if the paint on my house is peeling off, I should not paint it? Under Mr. Rankin's theory, the odds of it just re-adhering itself must be better than the odds of by-law enforcement slapping me with an unsightly premesis fine. Brilliant!

In the popularity contest of municipal politics, I'm not surprised Mr. Craig came out of the gates hot to trot - he's trying to get his name out there. Where he is quick to criticize Halifax Water's management of storm water in its infancy (according to the report, Halifax Water has barely had full control over storm water a year or two) - I will hold back any judgement on Mr. Craig until he has had enough time to fully adjust to his new roll in the cities workings.
