Claire Simmons and Tabitha Taylor are ready to light it up. The pair of best pals are behind TNT Candles, a local line of all-natural, micro-batch aromatherapy candles
celebrating its launch today (Thursday, August 6, 5-7pm) at Bodega Boutique (20 Wentworth Street). “We are both pretty creative and we both wanted a jobby,” says Simmons. “Something that could start out as a hobby, and have the potential to turn into a job.”
Since dreaming up the idea to make soy-based, GMO-free, subtly-scented candles back in February, Simmons and Taylor spent a lot of time perfecting their recipe, and their fragrances, to arrive at TNT’s summer trio—lemongrass eucalyptus, rosewood birch and benzoin bergamot. “We’re hoping our scents will be our thing,” says Simmons, adding they’ll release three fall candles in October. TNT is available at Lady Luck Boutique (5519 Young Street) and Bodega Boutique (where tonight’s celebrations will include snacks and sips), but if you’re a Haligonian ordering online, your candles will be hand delivered to your doorstep.
