Re: “Relish Gourmet Burgers

Having had some positive experiances with gourmet burger shops lately my husband and I were looking forward to giving the new place, Relish, a shot. We were very sorely disappointed. The service was very ackward and jarring, the counter girl was very loud and overly bubbly and the entire staff shouts at you when your food is ready.

You will hear such timeless classics as "WELCOME TO RELISH" and "RELISH TO (your name)" The restaurant itself wasn't maintained very nicely. At 8:00, one hour before closing time, the bathrooms had begun to stink up the back end of the resturant and the condiment selection was nonextistant.

After a wait of +40 minutes our food arrived (before the couple who had ordered before us) our food wasn't even hot. The fries are just the average frozen varitey, nothing special. The gravy on the poutine was so cold it had solidified. The burger was lukewarm at best, and there was no varriety or choice of topping.

The manager we complained to really was not taking any responsiblity for the quality of the food. When we complained he tried to blame it on everything from how busy the day had been, to it being later in the evening and the gravy container had gotten low, to the staff being still in training mode because they had only opened a week ago. We were offered a $25 gift certificate in place of a refund, but at almost $19 a meal, it hardly feels worth it.

All in all, I say save your $20 and head to Cheese Curds. Good, hot, fresh food and you wont be disappointed
