Tony Hawk: Rad Science

Find out how physics principles like gravity, force, velocity, acceleration, inertia and balance make radical skateboarding tricks possible while celebrating the fascinating culture. It’s the perfect introduction for newbie boarders, but also an unparalleled opportunity for experienced riders to better understand how and why skateboarding works. At the Exhibit, visitors will be immersed in the skatepark culture that features special skateboarding workshops and demonstrations, multi-media elements and highly interactive exhibits. Take a dip into Newton’s Pool and discover three laws of motion; find the sweet spot on Board Balance; and discover thrust on the Momentum Machine. The Exhibit also includes a stationary skateboard designed to test your balance while performing common tricks, and a Create-a-Skate session, where visitors can learn the science behind skateboard design. And at the 900 Vert Theatre, you can watch a short video of Hawk completing his historic “900” move, which revolutionized the sport.
