If a picture says a thousand words, 40 pictures will have many stories to tell. In recognition of Jazz Fest's 25th year, a collection of photos from past festivals, taken by professionals, musicians and festival keeners alike, has been carefully compiled and will be showcased at the main festival tent. JazzEast's James MacAulay dug into storage lockers and Jazz Fest's days of yore, finding brilliant memories captured by folks like Clas Larsson (a Lunenburg-based musician and photographer who's pictures date back to the 80s) and Chris Cowper-Smith (who shot his first Jazz Fest last summer.) Along with MacAulay's findings, a call-out to JazzEast members and recommendations from other photographers helped to fill a photographic reflection that truly represents the community's involvment in the festival's growth. "It was like a crash course in the festival's history, and I got to be familiar with the people that got the whole thing going and who had a hand in running it over the past 25 years," says MacAulay, who also compiled a retrospective blog---check it out at –Allison Saunders
