Twilight Zone - The Movie (Warner)/Close Encounters of the Third Kind: 30th Anniversary Ultimate Edition
Sony
Spielberg wanted out of the anthology film Twilight Zone after star Vic Morrow was decapitated filming John Landis’ segment. As a result, its “Kick the Can” remake became a contractual obligation and the worst thing Spielberg’s ever done. Yet it’s fascinating to see this misbegotten project---redeemed by George Miller’s terrific final episode---finally on DVD. Close Encounters, by contrast, is everything great they say it is. It’s been on disc before---but, comprising three different cuts, never in a version so definitive.
