Award-winning Two Planks and a Passion theatre company is celebrating its 20th birthday with a 1920s-themed gala called The Speakeasy on Saturday, April 16.

The shindig will host an auction, live music, dancing, gambling and a three-course meal, all happening at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts (555 Ross Creek Road, Canning) Make sure to arrive dressed in your finest '20s garb. Seating is limited, so book your tickets in advance on Two Planks' website (twoplanks.ca) or call 902-582-3073. Prices are running at $75 a pop (with $40 as a tax receipt) or you can book a table of eight for $550.

Funds raised from The Speakeasy will go towards Two Planks' world premiere of Rick Chafe's Beowulf, which plays Ross Creek from July 9 to August 6. Chafe's adaptation is meant to be presented outdoors, so the Annapolis Valley's 186-acre Ross Creek Centre for the Arts should make for the perfect venue.
