Vegan to Go

Do you find yourself getting sad and hungry during the week-long wait for Burrito Bike Saturdays? Stop pouting and get online. New business Vegan to Go is fixing to fill your belly with homemade vegan eats every weekday evening except Friday, from 6-8pm. (On Fridays, you’ll have to forage for yourself. Might I suggest toast with peanut butter?) Owner Bruce Constable, inspired by the Burrito Bike’s pedal-powered example, isn’t looking to compete with the Bike---he just wants to offer a complementary service. “Burrito Bike...they do their stuff on Saturday,” says Constable.

“So...I figured I’ll leave the weekends and just do it throughout the week.” Like its forebearer, most of the new one-man-operation’s delivery is being done by bicycle. “Or I have a scooter, on nice days,” adds Constable. Given these limitations, Constable’s restricting delivery from the north end-based business to the north and south ends and “maybe downtown a bit.” Orders can be placed via email at or by posting on the wall for the Vegan to Go Facebook group, where the weekly menu is also posted. If Constable has your order before noon, it’s easier to plan his cooking and shopping. There are no special orders from Vegan to Go because he only makes one meal per day. But if you don’t like what he made yesterday, you may like what’s on the menu tomorrow. Prices are reasonable and Constable’s also selling homemade salsa and sourdough bread. Sounds like I’ll have to pack up my peanut butter.
