The Coast is turning into a regular "victim of the week" rag. A few weeks ago it was someone else's fault the squeegee kids couldn't work like the rest of us, and now the bridge commission is to blame for jumpers ("Adam's fall," Feb. 7.) So, I guess Lawtons is to blame for overdoses and General Motors is to blame for anyone who offs themselves with a hose from a tailpipe of a Chevy. These poor folks are troubled and it's tragic they're tossing away their lives. The trainwreck that suicides leave behind makes me feel very little sympathy for someone who takes their own life. As for the problem of suicides, it was around long before the harbour bridges were built and unfortunately will be long after. People will always find a way. If someone wants to go, they can jump off the Fairview overpass. Whose fault is that? Peter Kelly's? Give me a break.
