Halloween costumes are stuffed in the closet, Christmas decorations are on display at every possible store---all signs point to that in-between-seasons time where no one's really sure what to do. The answer: warm yourself with specialty coffees in anticipation of things to come. Head to these bars for delicious drinks before the 'nog gets here.
Nectar Social House
Nectar's main bartender, Neil Daoust, whipped up this concoction just before our phone call: one ounce of vanilla Grand Marnier, half an ounce of Godiva white chocolate liqueur, add coffee, pour in a sugar-rimmed mug, top with whipped cream and a dusting of chocolate shavings and you're good to go. It's called the Nectar coffee, and we're already in love.

Step off the windiest sidewalk in the city and into the steaminess of a cafe Niche, the signature coffee made by Niche's bartenders. A mix of Bacardi coconut, Frangelico, Baileys Irish cream and coffee, set in a sugar-rimmed mug with whipped cream. Don't forget the cherry on top.

The Henry House
Any regular Henry House patron knows that November is an exciting time: It's when the House brings out the cider, warms it up and mixes it with spiced rum. You can also get it without the rum, of course, but who doesn't want that extra kick? The hot chocolate's pretty solid too, if you're looking for a sweeter option.
