To the editor,

A few weeks back, someone wrote in suggesting a "Love the Way We Love" feature instead of/as well as "Love the Way We Bitch." This is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. I would really love to start it off.

I have battled with depression since my late childhood. I have tried everything from medication (sometimes self-medication) to cognitive therapy and even yoga/meditation. The Prozac worked only in the sense that it numbed me from myself. The cognitive therapy worked, but only in the short term and the yoga/meditation never quite cut it.

However, in the last year I have been hiking up Quinpool almost every day of the week. I start at the very bottom by the North West Arm and walk all the way downtown to work. At a brisk pace for 45 minutes it is an amazing workout. Not only does my body look toned, but my mood has never been more cheerful. I have limitless energy and peace of mind all at once. I wish I had known about this magic bullet years ago. People keep telling me I'm glowing with good health and that I look refreshed. I am so happy I can hardly stand myself. I hope people with depression problems will read this and find inspiration. There are alternatives to drugs. There is hope.
