Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Show Your Bones
(Interscope)
For the past two decades our ears have been in training for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ vocalist Karen O. Patti Smith, Kim Gordon, Sleater-Kinney and Julie Doiron’s Eric Trip days all tutored us in the ways of rock—earbud-imprinting vital data on our cilia. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Show Your Bones is all anyone will need to kick out the jams. Best played in a car with the volume set at 11, you will instantly become a rock star, invincible to daily drudge, screaming along to O’s words at every stoplight. There’s no sophomore curse here: This is a band that has chosen not to sit back and crank it out but instead move its sound to a place called bigger and louder.
